Plagued by the recent turmoil, King Anthropes had sent out an open invitation to every mercenary, pirate and bounty hunter in the kingdom. Ylandere was getting bolder, fearing no one, she had now built her nest upon their shores. Another generation of terror was too much for the King to bear. After losing his son to the beast, King Anthropes was more determined than ever to cleanse his kingdom of this menace.
Ylandere could sense the gathering storm, yet she was committed to her unborn lineage. Only once in every millenium was a true Draelyn born. A Dragon of only the purest magic, that could unite all the Dragon clans for the final battle against the parasite that was MANKIND!
OK, so it's a bit rough, but I just wrote it off the top of my head.
This is Sentinel re-visited. [link] It was originally supposed to have a castle etc, but I mixed an acrylic with the oils by mistake and it gave me loads of problems. It never dried properly and even after 2/3 yrs, it doesn't perform as it should. When removing mistakes, it takes off some of the original paint too. Because of this, I've only done a quick touch up. I did put in a pile of bones and some weapons etc, next to the nest, but it distracted the eye and ruined the balance, so I took them out again.
I painted the castle and ships in rough dark shapes and highlighted what I thought I saw in the paint. No ref used, just my imagination. They are not filled in with refined details. I like paintings where the viewer can imagine their own things, like a staircase here, an extra room there, a couple of dodgy geezers mingling in an alleyway etc. The top of the tower for instance, has just a few lines, shapes and torches on it. It supposed to be men on scaffolding, repairing the top of the tower, but it can be what you like.
Love the overall feel that radiates from the piece. The dragon is very nice... really adds to the piece. I love dark pieces and the castle and boats are wonderful. Dark and mysterious, looming watery depths... I love it.
Looks good... pretty good writing too. Done the same thing with the acrylic myself... I think when cleaning up I put a few acrylic tubes with the oils.
Oooo, I love the overall feeling of impending battle! The castle alone is brilliant, I love it, and the ships are fantastic too. I like that you didn't overwork them and did the whole leave it to the imagination thing. Really brilliant, that's a castle I'd love to explore.

Cheers. That's what happened to me. I tend to leave the paints out for each painting and one of the acrylics got nudged in with the oils and I picked it up without thinking. It was only when the painting started curdling, that I thought something was wrong, lol.

Gotta crush on a pretty pistol, Should I tell her that I feel this way?
Thanks. When it dries properly and I can take it outside for a better photo, I might post a detail of the castle. It's very simply done, yet it does look interesting. Lots of bits that look more than they are. The colour isn't so lilac either, it's more of a bluey moonlight colour.

I shalln't be. I already did some fiddling and it got a tad dangerous. The whole thing is riddled with wet paint. Nothing is drying properly. I'd also covered it with re-touch varnish, which you are supposed to be able to paint over, but I'm not totally happy with it taking to it. It seems to slip around a bit.
